Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced: pond-o-ray) Sandpoint centers around this gorgeous lake. 43 miles long, and 1,150 feet deep in some regions, making it the fifth deepest in the United States. The lake centers at “City Beach” downtown Sandpoint's free casual hot spot. The US Navy tests submarines for acoustics out at the deep south end of the lake in Bayview , this area is also home to Farragut State Park.
